These Finger Technique exercises are little finger twisters meant to be more confusing than straightforward. These are geared toward advanced students and professional flutists. My philosophy is that if you can play something that is extremely difficult and confusing, it will make our facility on the instrument that much more all-encompassing and the music we play seem that much easier.
These finger technique exercises are major triad arpeggios related by a tritone. They give your brain a workout as well as your technique. Playing these from memory would be beneficial not just for the fingers, but for your analysis and ear training skills as well.
Playing the exercise legato will get the cleanest finger exchanges, but feel free to play with whatever articulation pattern you want!
