I believe that every increment of personal improvement and growth should be celebrated no matter what the level of the student. I accept students of all ages, backgrounds, and playing levels, so long as they are willing to put in the work to continually improve on their set of skills.

I have been teaching private flute lessons since 2012 and always strive to help all of my students advance — no matter what their age or experience level.

In my lessons, I focus on beauty of sound, technique, and all of the fundamentals necessary to play at the highest level. I make sure my students have the tools necessary to make intelligent musical decisions, which can only be realized with exposure to great music and musicians. I teach general music appreciation, music theory, and music history as part of my core lessons, since we are learning music, not just the flute. Listening to music is very important! Studying with me, you will listen to and learn about the large spectrum of classical music, including music across all time periods and of all ensemble types.

Music lessons should be accessible to ALL

Learning music can be very expensive, and, for some, simply unattainable; the purchase of scores, technique books, tone development books, etudes, on top of the price of lessons, instrument repair, and everything else that goes along with learning an instrument is very costly. Much of my pedagogical background is in working with under-privileged youth in Los Angeles, CA. It is my mission as an educator to keep the cost of learning music as low as possible and accessible to all. I make use of many free resources in my pedagogy, and I also write many of my own exercises for my students to use free of charge. Music should not be an elite area of study that only few can afford, and it is my goal to bring music education to those who may not be able to afford it otherwise.
